Jak 2 for PS2 Question?

Okay I am at the part on the game where I have to go destroy the Metal Head Eggs, but when i go there and attack they eggs they dont get destroyed or anything. I have also tried to destroy them with both of my guns but they didnt work either. So what do I have to have to destroy the eggs or what do I have to do to destroy them?
