Could giant current transformers be erected that could collect energy from streamers of lightning bolts?

This is an interesting idea. However the supply of such energy would be very erratic and could not be depended on. That is the first problem since electricity after generation cannot be stored. The technology for this technique would be very very expensive due to the high voltage and extremely high current flows of most lightning.
